Why I Wrote the EQ Book. . .

As most of you know, while mainstream scientists don't like the "P" word, people are predicting earthquakes every day. And often their predictions come true. The general public deserves to know all about earthquake prediction and be able to understand how it can affect their lives.

It doesn't take a rocket scientist to write about past and present earthquake predictions and accurate hits. Also, you don't have to be a math wizard to count the number of people worldwide who may be interested in do-it-yourself quake warnings and earthquake preparedness. It's called self preservation.

But sadly, as a health writer I know that it sometimes takes a disastrous event (much like getting a life-threatening disease) to jolt people to open their minds and accept that simple not elaborate methods often can and do work, time after time. . .

Here is a passage from the Berkland Book:
"The goals for this book were twofold: I wanted to learn all about earthquake prediction and disaster preparedness and to let readers in on the behind-the-scenes of quakes and the politics of science. Rather than stay uninformed or frightened about when the next earthquake might strike, I could seek Berkland and his peers' knowledge to heighten my awareness at home and around the world. Berkland's unconventional earthquake prediction theories--as well as other quake experts and predictors--would give me priceless information to help me be more aware of Mother Nature."
