Quite aware of that fact that Sieh did not "predict" but warned. Please read the post I just sent to Vidale. I interviewed USGS Andy Michael and quoted him saying what you did. Please give me some credit here. I also quoted Michael noting: "I would say what Kerry was doing was much more on the end of hazard assessment. It was knowing that this was a hazardous region and working very hard to get that message out."

Again, my point is: When do people know when to listen to warnings or predictions? In the end, just like health, we're on our own. The government nor doctors are going to save you. People need to become more aware and more self-reliant.
