your evidence just disappeared

Your post: "Many of Berkland's theories--based on tides, lunar cycles, disoriented animals--were factors on December 26, 2004." - this can only refer to animals detecting precursors to earthquakes.

I looked over the news reports fairly carefully, I had to talk to the national media and answer questions about this earthquake. I read no evidence of animals sensing the earthquake before it hit. So I didn't interview every animal, and I can't say as you request that no animal predicted the earthquake, but there is no evidence I (and apparently you) know for animals predicting the earthquake.

"The fact that more animals lived than humans died is enough evidence for me." This statement must mean you are confused about the terminology. A precursor to the earthquake means something that happened before the ground ruptured. Detecting the seismic wave is not detecting a precursor, even though it preceded the water wave. Detecting the seismic waves could give an hour's warning, 5 minutes is enough to escape the tsunami.
