EARTHQUAKE WARNING AND WARNING POLICY UPDATE - Posted by EQF on March 13, 2011

The “EM Signals” being referred to in this posting are believed to be earthquake fault zone activity related electromagnetic energy field fluctuations that are associated with approaching earthquakes. The actual original energy sources for the signals could be the Earth’s geomagnetic energy field and also frequently, solar storms.

Two moderately strong EM Signals were detected at the following times:

2011/03/12 14:37:00 UTC

My data indicate to me that whenever two of those types of EM Signals are detected within a few hours of one another there is perhaps a 75% chance that a powerful and significant earthquake will occur within a few days.

My earthquake forecasting computer program has been out of service since the beginning of January, 2011 while some programming work was being done and database file updates were being made. So, I cannot presently propose where those EM Signals could be pointing, or if they might be associated with an approaching aftershock for that devastating March 11, 2011 Japan area earthquake or for an aftershock that has already occurred.

On March 9, 2011 I posted a warning note to this bulletin board regarding two strong EM Signals that were detected on March 7, 2011. But I thought that those EM Signals might have been associated with a 7.2 magnitude earthquake that occurred in the Japan area on March 9, 2011. And I did not circulate any other formal warnings at that time.

It presently appears that those particular EM Signals are such accurate and reliable indicators of approaching significant seismic activity that starting today I am updating my earthquake warning policy to be the following:

Whenever those types of signals are detected, formal earthquake warnings or advisories will be widely circulated as soon as possible even if it appears that the earthquake responsible for them might have already occurred.
