Nucleating Quake Questions

John,

You wrote, gthe same theory says ...that all of the thousands of tiny earthquakes occurring every day probably nucleate in a way indistinguishable from the way large earthquakes nucleate.h

What does the term gearthquake nucleationh mean? Does nucleation here mean gTo form something into a nucleush? I do not understand how your initial description of the accelerating movements constitutes a nucleation.

Since this is supposedly a gtheoryh, I guess there is some rationale as to why tiny earthquakes would nucleate in a way indistinguishable from large earthquakes. Is that so?

It would be interesting to have found something that does not vary regardless of earthquake size, but it is not clear what that might be, why it is so, and what phenomena are predicted by this theory that would provide confirmation if observed.
