Planned Philippines earthquake report
Posted by EQF on March 07, 2002 at 19:27:49:

On February 27, 2002 I posted a report to the sci.geo.earthquakes Internet Newsgroup which discussed the earthquake forecasting program which is now operational in the Philippines. And as many people are undoubtedly aware, on March 5, 2002 the following destructive Philippines earthquake occurred. According to news reports that I have been seen there were about 15 fatalities.

2002/03/05 21:16:09 6.11N 124.12E 33.0 7.6 A MINDANAO, PHILIPPINES
(NEIS data)

At the moment I am aware of 5 different groups or individuals who I understand believe that they were able to determine that an earthquake might be about to occur in that area. That includes me. On February 23 I circulated an advisory for a strongly felt earthquake which I thought might occur near where the following one occurred:

01/01/01 06:57:03 6.89N 126.61E 33.0 7.2Ms A MINDANAO, PHILIPPINES

A reference which I made to the possibility of one occurring in western Pacific Ocean areas can be seen in the following February 26 report:

I would be interested in hearing from any other individuals or groups which believe that they were able to tell that that earthquake was going to occur. The plan is to summarize that information in an informal report which will be sent to some of my international earthquake forecasting contacts who are interested in that type of data. Additionally, information which people do not consider confidential might also be summarized in a separate report which would be posted to sci.geo.earthquakes.

If you were able to determine that an earthquake could be about to occur there then you might provide me with some details. Notes could be posted here, to the Yahoo EarthWaves bulletin board, to sci.geo.earthquakes, or sent to me through my Web site:
href="http://www.freewebz.com/eq-forecasting/index.html">http://www.freewebz.com/eq-forecasting/index.html

*** Web site references and the names of organized groups would probably be included in that informal report.

*** The names of private parties would probably not be included even if people requested that.

*** If you send me that forecast data because you want it added to my report or to the sci.geo.earthquakes report if one is posted but you do not want any reference made to your identity or to your Web site then you should state that in your note.

These are personal opinions.
