Re: Planned Philippines earthquake report

Don, you generated a Philippines area forecast which I just recently saw. And I thought that it was both excellent and potentially invaluable. Your latitude and longitude data were identical to those in the forecast which I myself circulated on February 23 (but did not post here). My destructive potential estimate was far better than yours. But your time window was quite a bit more accurate than mine was.

The person at the following Web site had some valuable information stored there regarding an “earthquake cloud” observation in the Philippines area. And on February 27 I told my contacts about his data.

Earthquake Clouds and Short Term Prediction

Had I seen your forecast before the Philippines earthquake then I would likely have passed that information along to them as well. And perhaps your data would have been helpful to them. But it never even occurred to me to check any of the forecasts being posted to this board. As I said in the note to Petra, forecasting information being posted here is usually too disorganized for me to use. And most of the time I just completely ignore it.

I already know how good my own forecasts are. And I have spent a considerable amount of time over the past decade developing a fairly sophisticated procedure for circulating earthquake warnings and advisories My report asked if anyone else had had any success with determining that that Philippines earthquake was going to occur. So, why didn’t you point out in your note that you had generated that forecast, the type of information I requested, instead of commenting on my forecast?

If you wish to be helpful, then, be helpful!

These are my personal opinions.
