Earthquake Forecasting And Research Related Web Site – October 15, 2011

Yesterday, a new earthquake forecasting and research related Internet Web site finally got up and running at the address (URL) below:

http://www.earthquake-research.com/index.html

The site was actually created a while back. But there were some Internet Server administrative matters that needed to get organized before any announcements were made about the site.

Because of time limitations at the moment, it might be a while before very much information is stored there.

One of the main reasons for establishing the site is to provide people around the world with the opportunity to see what “factual” earthquake science looks like rather than the “politically correct” earthquake science that world governments and so many members of the international scientific community keep trying to force the general public to accept.

For example, that inaccurate and completely ridiculous “politically correct” supposed law of the universe that states that the only earthquake forecasting information that specifies exact location, time window, and magnitude has any value might be shown to be just another pile of rubbish.

Approaching earthquake time window information can be critically important for disaster mitigation efforts. But location and magnitude information are not. Yet that popular and convenient inaccurate statement about the absolute need for all three of those types of data continues to be circulated far and wide by earthquake forecasting “experts” around the world.

Another ridiculous yet popular statement is that earthquakes are random events rather than ones that can often be triggered by forces associated with the gravitational pulls of the sun and the moon.

See the earlier posts on this board discussing “The Galileo Syndrome” for more information regarding some of the major problems affecting the science of earthquake forecasting.

Finally, to be fair, the science of earthquake forecasting is not by any means the only area of science and technology where widely circulated myths can and often do prevail.

In the relatively recent past we saw some of the catastrophic consequences of government officials and the general public blindly accepting other Special Interest Group supported myths related to the safety of drilling for oil in the deep waters of the Gulf of Mexico, and the safety of all modern nuclear power plants such as the one or more in Japan that suffered meltdowns as a result of that devastating tsunami.

These are personal opinions.
