researcher rescued from South Pole station

A Researcher has a stroke at South Pole station in August and is now being rescued (link). This difficulty in rescuing people explains why Polar Support and NSF will not let me go to Antarctica. I went in 1996 (and it is really spectacular), but had a blood clot in leg in 2000 and have been on blood thinner since then. I missed research cruises in 2003 and 2004. I was playing (no check) ice hockey at a relatively high level instead, and driving; driving being probably more dangerous. They would probably let me go to McMurdo station, but there is no real reason for me to be there.

sorry about the biography, but posts have been slow, HW is at sea, HD is doing research in the Mojave desert (as assistant in an internship), so is just me here.
Chris
