How about choosing an earthquake research project instead of endlessly arguing? – October 18, 2011

Hi Chris,

You and other people around the world are in my opinion already indirectly agreeing with many of my theories and efforts etc.

I provide free advice to governments and other entities around the world regarding how they can solve or at least try to manage problems that threaten the health and well-being of their citizens. And the results of my efforts are everywhere.

I believe that I can guarantee that you yourself constantly rely on some of those results. This bulletin board would be one such example. Another researcher and I got the earlier version of the board started. Canie and the Yahoo EarthWaves board people took over the work when the other researcher stopped working on the project.

I simply usually don’t discuss those types of efforts in public if that is possible. Unfortunately, with earthquake forecasting I need to discuss things in public because there are no groups around the world that I can locate that appear to be interested in doing what needs to be done to move the science forward.

NEW WEB SITE

The following is information for you and other interested parties subject to prior and continuing approval, and if time is available.

The new http://www.earthquake-research.com/index.html Web site is generally intended for use by earthquake researchers around the world.

If you have a PhD. in geology then you would certainly qualify as an earthquake researcher. So, instead of arguing constantly on the EarthWaves board, why not choose one or more earthquake related projects and then store information related to them at the new Web site.

For example, I could organize a no cost subdirectory for you using your name or your name initials. And you could store Web pages there discussing different types of earthquake research that are of interest to you. It might even be possible for you to run your own blog or bulletin board at the site. I have a custom designed one similar to the EarthWaves board that is mostly operational. It still needs a little work.

One of the major projects intended for work at the new site that might be of interest to you is the development of theories and equations that show how most of our powerful earthquakes are being triggered. The model that I have developed for earthquake triggering process already generates fairly good data for some earthquakes. It is largely based on sun and moon gravity related forces plus ocean and Solid Earth Tide effects.

I have also developed an E-mail processing program that enables people to attach reports or entire Web pages to an E-mail letter and send it to a special E-mail address along with a security word. And their reports are then automatically stored on the Web site as if they were entered through a blog or bulletin board.

So, people could post Web page reports at the site without having to first send them to me.

My policy regarding what can be stored on the Web site is intended to be fairly liberal. Someone could propose that earthquakes occur because giant earthquakes are fighting underground for feeding rights or mates etc. And, I probably wouldn’t object to that. It could add some humor to the site.

However, there won’t be any offensive material allowed there. And people won’t be able to get into arguments that involve attacks on other site users.

As far as being criticized by the international geology community for posting anything on a Web site where other people are daring to post statements that insist that earthquakes can be predicted, the benefits have to be weighed against that type of risk.

These are personal opinions.
