Re: Geomagnetic Storm |
Hi Chris - I posted a note about a month ago about a satellite the French are sending up to do more research into the connection of geomagnetic and earthquakes. We'll see if the geothermal areas perk up in the next few days - the Geysers, obsidian butte, mammoth, coso junction, east pacific rise, yellowstone... I'm not quite sure of the mechanism but I'd say the fluids get 'excited' somehow from the geomagnetic activity, maybe pressure rises ... I just don't have any tools (or the knowledge) available to determine such things. I know another poster who used to watch the electron flux - when it was very low readings (just about nil) for a few days, he thought that was a precursor to a large quake - but no location information, just that one was imminent (6.5+). It seems a proton storm will somehow retard activity. Its such an interesting field of study - I may just do some work in that direction - there's very little data that's really been collected and correlated. A wide open field. Or at least a very new field of study.
