Re: Pat Robertson and the Tsunami |
I am astounded to see two references to certifiable right-wing, Christian fundamentalist nut-job Pat Robertson's recent prediction of tsunamis striking the Coasts, each without any critical comment; it's as if Robertson was just another person with a theory on earthquake prediction. Russel says "Don't know if Pat is really on track here or not, but . . .," and Petra says "some may understand what Pat Robertson and I have seen . . .,," and "I should probably send Robertson and e-mail and offer him some solace as I've already been where he is and he might like that. I feel sorry for him. If he's wrong and being a church elder and all, it won't go very well and if he's right it will have a huge emotional impact on him . . ." Jesus H. Krist, people!! Robertson claims to get his predictions directly from God, and frames these manifestations of God's displeasure as being due to homosexuality, and voting for Democrats. From http://mediamatters.org/items/200505020002 , Robertson has explicityly agreed with Falwell's statements that the World Trade Center attacks were, at least in part, due to "gays, abortionists, the ACLU, and the People For the American Way." Russel may just not be aware of the Robertson's background, but Petra (from the content of her post), certainly is. Robertson is a reprehensible, disgusting demagogue, one who represents the most greedy, ignorant, despicable, intolerant and unholy dark, damp recesses of the human psyche. Anyone who hopes for human progress and happiness in this world has an obligation to repudiate him and all he stands for. Mike Williams in Arroyo Grande, CA
