Myanmar Earthquake – November 11, 2012

The following powerful earthquake just occurred:

News reports are stating that there were a number of fatalities though not too many so far.

I generally don’t circulate information that people send me without first getting permission from them to do that. So, I can’t say too much about the following.

However,

One of my forecasting research colleagues recently sent me an E-mail proposing that a significant earthquake might be about to occur around 24 N and 93 E in a time window that included November 11. And that location is not too far from where that earthquake occurred.

At the moment I am waiting to hear from him (or her) to see if that was in fact the expected earthquake. And I asked if I could circulate some details such as the forecasting detection method.

If that was the expected earthquake then I think that this was an absolutely amazing forecast. And that person should circulate details everywhere. I offered to help with that.
