Re: Some Forecast Details – November 11, 2012 |
Hi Roger, As I said in that last post, that information was not posted here for people to keep "count." It was to let people around the world know that TEC apparently did an excellent job of spotting the approach of that earthquake. And governments and independent researchers should be checking further to see if that phenomenon might help us forecast some percentage of our significant earthquakes. TEC is the Total Electron Content. A high TEC means that there are more electrons than usual in an cubical area of atmosphere at some location if I understand things correctly. It does not appear to be measured directly but rather by measuring its affect on radio waves and perhaps other types of waves that are traveling between the ground and satellites, or perhaps the reverse, or both. I did a little checking but did not see any reports that explained the physical mechanism that would cause the number of electrons in some area to be higher than normal. Perhaps it is related to the rock pressure effects that were studied by Dr. Friedemann Freund. It is apparently strongly affected by solar storms. Follow Ups: ● TEC Records – November 12, 2012 - EQF 14:59:38 - 11/12/2012 (80544) (1) ● Re: TEC Records – November 12, 2012 - Roger Hunter 16:03:30 - 11/12/2012 (80545) (1) ● Re: TEC Records – November 12, 2012 - EQF 17:04:27 - 11/12/2012 (80546) (1) ● Re: TEC Records – November 12, 2012 - Roger Hunter 20:02:58 - 11/12/2012 (80547) (1) ● Re: TEC Records – November 12, 2012 - EQF 21:32:43 - 11/12/2012 (80548) (1) ● Re: TEC Records – November 12, 2012 - EQF 05:36:04 - 11/13/2012 (80549) (1) ● Re: TEC Records – November 12, 2012 - Roger Hunter 07:28:11 - 11/13/2012 (80550) (0) |
