Being a long time member of this board, I often find myself wondering who is who, whether they work as a professional in the field, what their connection to earthquakes, if any, is, and what other information might be relevant to the views and opinions posted.

I was thinking that it would be interesting to acquaint ourselves by telling a little bit about our background. Here's a proposed format (just a suggestion):

1. Do you work in the earth sciences field professionally?
2. If so, or if not, what is your connection to, or interest in, earthquakes?
3. If you care to share, what do you do professionally?
4. What is your most significant seismic experience?
5. Is there anything else you would like the board to know?

I was going to start with mine, but I think that should be reserved for Canie. She's spent years maintaining this board.

Canie, what prompted you to start this board and how long has it been in existence?
