Brian, If you ever get up to the Seattle area in the late Summertime I know of some long day hikes on the east side of Mt Rainier National Park. One of the hikes starts out at an elv. of about 3,000 ft and tops out at a little over 7,500 ft in about seven miles and then back to the starting point about 5 mile later. I have walked all but about a 2.5 mile streach between Glacier Basin and Upper Burrows. Some day I may walk the full loop starting at the White River camp ground climbing to Sunrise Park and then over Little and Upper Burrows and then back to thw White River camp ground via Glacier Basin where there was a private active gold mine claim up until about 30 years ago. To do the loop one must be in good shape because of the elevation gains and losses and it will take most if not all the daylight hours to complete.
