questions, questions, questions

1. I haven't heard anything further about UCLA professor Vladimir Keilis-Borok since his failed prediction for an earthquake in So Calif a couple of years ago. I figure he is about 84-85 yrs old now. Is he still alive? Is he still predicting? Has anyone heard anything further from him?

2. Is there an event or a circumstance that would prompt the USGS to issue an earthquake warning for the general public (other than the usual warning to be prepared for aftershocks after a major quake)? For instance, would an earthquake swarm be so unusual that the USGS would caution the public to be prepared for something imminent? Does the USGS have such a policy?

3. On the subject of birthdays, my birthday was January 5th. While I have a great job as a Financial Analyst here in Las Vegas, I do expect to retire in a few years and move away from here. This is not where I want to spend the rest of my life, in Sin City. I figure I have another 30+ years ahead of me (the women in my family are long-lived and I'm in excellent health). I used to live in Ojai and would love to move back there someday. I've noticed that Ojai doesn't get many quakes. What is the seismic history of Ojai? Do they ever get sizable, destructive quakes? Do any of you know about this area?
