What is evidence for rings?

Chris,

Is there any statistically valid evidence that there is a correlation between earthquake activity and the rings?

All I've heard so far is perhaps Whiteside's thesis has some data, but given the elusiveness of evaluating the performance of his company, Geoforecaster, we need more solid evidence than that.
