Lowell's expertise is earthquake catalogues, earthquake occurrence, and to some extent, statistics. I'd say he knows more about earthquake occurrence than just about anyone (meaning, where and when they have occurred in the past). I think he is or was in a position to notice things that others might not notice. So, don't write him off quite so quickly. Chris
