Sometimes it is quite difficult to explain in words what a picture can say in seconds. A little while ago we had a solar flare which impacted near the west coast. Wanting to share this d-region map information I created a spot on my web page for demonstration purposes.

Chris and I have had a lot of discussion about this and I'm still not sure we have reached an understanding.
