Right - but as I said, my siblings wanted CASH NOW - and not have it in the trusts... Mom had a living trust, but that's different from family trusts.. There was one type of Trust that I did like and wanted to setup - but was over-ruled... We're about to close escrow on the sale of a piece of commercial property - the siblings again all wanted to sell the property, not be happy with the monthly rental income we were getting... I'm the only one that wanted to hold onto it... And again, the way the property was being held (in an LLC), and because they don't want to re-invest it as a group (they want their own control over the cash) - we'll be paying about $263,045.79 in capital gains taxes this year... I never said my siblings were smart...
