This is some additional information regarding that Italy earthquake trial.

And, this information is from confidential sources. So, people reading this post shouldn’t tell anyone else about it until it is announced in the news (and for those who speak English as a second or third language, this is satire).

When that Italy earthquake trial was announced, some 5000 scientists and government officials and who knows, got together and signed and sent an "open letter" to the government of Italy stating (basically) that it was a great crime against science that the government of Italy should put a group of people on trial for giving the general public absolutely erroneous and extremely dangerous information (“You have absolutely nothing to fear. Go back to your comfortable homes and have a nice glass of wine.”) and presenting it as science fact.

And now that the guilty verdicts have been announced, those 5000 letter signers must think that their efforts were a total waste of time.

NOT SO !!!

The government of Italy found an absolutely perfect use for the letter. And EarthWaves board visitors could probably have guessed this considering the outcome of the trial. They don’t need to have me tell them.

In the front of the room where the trial was being held there was an evidence table with the usual 4 legs. And because of that powerful earthquake, the trial room floor had been warped resulting in one of the table legs not reaching the floor.

Every time a truck went past the courtroom the table rocked back and forth and drove all of the people in the room out of their minds. They tried everything including putting a large weight on one corner of the table. Nothing worked until that letter with the 5000 names arrived.

Both the prosecution and defense lawyers carefully examined the letter. And at first they didn’t know what to do with it. But, a letter with 5000 names on it has a certain finite thickness. And one of the lawyers had a brilliant thought!

Why not see if we can slip that letter under that one table leg and prop it up?

They did. And it worked !!!

With that many names on it the letter was just the right thickness to get the job done. And because it was made of paper it had a spongy character to it. So when trucks rolled past the courtroom the floor vibrations were absorbed by the letter.

What an amazing coincidence !!!

So, now that the trial is over, what is going to happen to that letter with the 5000 names on it?

Well, the prosecution and defense lawyers in the case were so happy that they were able to work for an entire year in the courtroom without that table constantly making noise that they decided to write to each and every person who signed that letter and thank them from the bottoms of their hearts.

Now isn’t that nice of them?

The moral of the story is,

At times it is okay for scientists and others to try to be “Politically Correct” in the face of overwhelming evidence showing that they are actually absolutely wrong. Now and then something good comes of those types of efforts.

Finally, remember that the “fact” that the information in this post is going to be part of a future international news report is from confidential sources. So, people should try to “keep it under their hats” for the moment.
