The petition was sent to the Italian President, not the local prosecutors. I doubt the 5000 names and affiliations were printed. One could print out a copy for the prosecutors, and if they put it under table (for which there is so far no documentation), it would only underline the disregard of the people running "justice" in Italy for the facts of the case. "Hang 'em high", and they say in spagetti westerns, was apparently the only logic and goal.

I'm confident the verdict will be overturned on appeal, when the case gets to a sentient court. And people's tolerance for the Ed's bizarre hallucinations (e.g., he's personally advising both Presidential candidates indeed) makes this a place I'd rather not post.
