EARTHQUAKE PRECURSOR PROJECT – Phase 3 – No Responses Please February 12, 2011 |
Earthquake Precursor Project – Phase 3 - Posted by EQF on February 12, 2011 EarthWaves Posters – PLEASE DO NOT POST ANY RESPONSES TO THIS THREAD. That request does not apply to the EarthWaves board moderator of course (or to the author of this post). This present posting thread is being used as a reference for international communications. If you wish to post any comments and suggestions regarding this posting then please use the alternate posting thread that has been created for that purpose. Thanks for that courtesy. Phase 1 of my earthquake forecasting and research effort involved creating the Year Charts and other display charts at my Web sites. Phase 2 involved storing freeware downloadable versions of my earthquake forecasting computer program and support files at my Web sites. Phase 3 involves, among other things, letting governments and other interested parties around the world know that earthquakes can be predicted using those technologies at my Web sites and also through the use of technologies developed by other researchers.
This “Earthquake Precursor Project” is one of those parts of Phase 3. At my Web sites I am working on one or more Web pages and a bulletin board that will both outline and provide detailed information regarding various earthquake precursors that government and disaster mitigation officials, earthquake forecasters and researchers, and the general public could be watching for when they suspect that an earthquake might be approaching. Such a precursor list might include large, fresh cracks in building foundations, unusually large amounts of static noise on television and radio transmissions, radon gas releases, and on and on. My own forecasting method presently generally just lets people know when a significant earthquake might be on the way and very roughly where they can try looking for signs that one is approaching. To determine exactly when and where it will occur a listing of observable precursors would be important. It would probably be difficult or impossible to compile a complete list of all of the earthquake precursors people have observed over the centuries. Numerous technical papers and entire books have been written about them. Instead, the main focus of this effort will likely be on discussing precursors that the general public might easily observe such as large, fresh cracks in building foundations and static noise on television and radio transmissions. A modified copy of my new Web site bulletin board program is being prepared so that people who have posting approval for that board can post their own comments to it regarding this subject matter. The address for that new bulletin board is scheduled to be posted to a future note on this present board. In a number of my postings over the years I have stated with some dismay that the international earthquake forecasting and research communities appear to me to have a very poor sense of direction. I have been trying to get other researchers to generate this type of precursor resource for years and perhaps even more than a decade. No luck. As an experienced scientist and researcher I can state with considerable certainty that the science of earthquake forecasting is not the only science or area of medicine that is suffering from that type of lack of organization. The list is quite lengthy. The science of drilling for oil in deep ocean water would be another obvious candidate for such a list. These are personal opinions.
