Forecast Program Update July 7, 2010

After a computer programming effort lasting more than a decade the Etdprog.exe earthquake forecasting computer program is finally fully operational.

<\P>That particular version is actually several years old. But it does most of what the latest version does.

The final step in this effort was to translate the TrueBasic language code written by Roger several years ago into Perl language code so that it could be merged with the Etdprog program. Previously, the program had to call a TrueBasic program through the Windows operating system and have it generate data related to the positions of the sun and the moon in the sky at specific times, and also their distance from the Earth. And that caused major delays for the program. Data could not be rapidly processed.

The new Perl language code runs a lot faster. And, now that the program is fully operational it should be possible to use it to do some basic research on how earthquakes are being triggered and how certain types of EM Signals such as Ear Tones are linked with approaching earthquakes.

The plan is to begin storing newer freeware versions of the Etdprog program at my download Web site for use by professional or amateur researchers around the world. A special routine is also being built into the program that will enable it to automatically read files at my Web site that will be updated with my latest forecast data. People will then be able to use my original data if they don’t have any data of their own. The program will also have the ability to download the latest version of itself from the Web site if and when the user wishes.

If a researcher has Perl running on his or her PC – Windows type computer then the .pl source code version of the program could be run. If not, then an .exe version of the program will also be stored at the site.

Getting all of this running is a complex operation that will require a fair amount of time. Several other earthquake researchers are assisting with the effort in one way or another.
