I looked at both Perl and PHP for dynamic web page creation. I chose Perl for, as you said, it's extremely powerful. PHP is easier to use and geared towards dynamic page creation as a CGI script, but Perl seems to have much to offer that PHP doesn't. If I were running my site on my own web server I could write CGI code in XBasic which I know very well as I'd have the backend running on my system. If I were to ask the admins of my webhost to run the DLL file on their system, I know the answer would be "NO!!!!".
