If you have finished reading the book, could you give us a short summary of what she said in it? I saw her note on the sci.geo.earthquakes Newsgroup. But I did not really want to discuss it there as I thought that that might not be polite or that it might possibly even affect book sales.

One of my concerns about books that people write about earthquake forecasting is the fact that quite often, they don’t bother to actually talk with any earthquake forecasters before summarizing the information. If they did then they might dramatically change the tone and content of their books. Several years ago I contacted one author who did ask for people’s comments regarding an earthquake forecasting book that she was planning. And after we talked for a while she completely changed her plans for the information to be included. The book was successful enough that she was asked to write a second one, which she did. I did not have time to help with that one and have not seen it.
