Re: Whats earths capability to absorb CO2?? |
In the scientific community there are a variety of views regarding what effects greenhouse gasses might be having on the environment. Perhaps the most widely held view is that if the greenhouse effect is in fact real, then we can’t wait until all of the data are in to start doing something about it. By then it would be too late. Many possible changes such as the extinction of different types of plants and animals would be irreversible. So, it is better to try to do something now and then just consider it to be wasted effort in the future if it is discovered that it was unnecessary. Another view is that regardless of how much carbon dioxide the oceans and soil can absorb, as that process moves forward it does have affects. CO2 makes water more acid if I remember that chemistry correctly. And that probably affects algae growth around the world and plant and animal life in coral reefs etc. Follow Ups: ● Re: Whats earths capability to absorb CO2?? - heartland chris 06:59:29 - 11/12/2009 (76193) (1) ● No disagreement on this - EQF 07:23:36 - 11/12/2009 (76197) (1) ● Re: No disagreement on this - heartland chris 07:02:25 - 11/13/2009 (76204) (1) ● Re: No disagreement on this - EQF 09:51:20 - 11/14/2009 (76205) (0) |
