Hi Roger,

Here is how the chart works. It isn’t that complex.

If you live in California for example, you check the chart each week to see if there are any strong peaks appearing around say 122W. If there are none then that is an indication that I myself have not detected anything for that area. An earthquake could still occur there. But it simply did not register with my forecasting method. That recent powerful Solomon Islands earthquake did not strongly register on the chart.

If there is a minor peak around 122W and you return the next week and the next line up shows a stronger peak and an even stronger one the following week then that would be a good indicator that you should start checking other types of data to see if an earthquake could be headed your way.

You don’t need to watch Japan or Iran or Turkey or Afghanistan or Chile. You are simply interested in peaks appearing in the California area. If you try to determine from other peaks where earthquakes are going to occur then it can be a guessing game. I don’t understand them all yet. But if you focus on just one area such as where you live then it is easy.

So, say that you live in the Kuril Islands. If the charts had existed in 2006 then around August you would have seen strong peaks begin to occur at your longitude. And on November 15, 2006 you would have felt the effects of that extremely strong Kuril Islands earthquake.

If you look at the 2003-2007.html Web page for the time around December 22, 2003 you can see some smaller peaks appearing where that California earthquake occurred claiming several lives. That information provides some indication of what might appear on the chart if another earthquake of that magnitude were headed for the same area.

With time I am hoping to understand what all of the strong peaks represent. For the moment I recommend that people who want to know if an earthquake could be about to occur near where they live just watch their own area on the chart.
