Roger, keep an open mind

Roger, remember when I told you to have an open mind, well this post might take that to it's extreme.

Forget about all the negative probability stuff for a few minutes. What about a relationship of lightning to earthquakes. Is it possible? Has it been studied?

I've noticed that here in Taichung, there has only been one occasion that I have noticed lightning in nearly two years. Recently, I read that rain that is common to Olympia, Washington (and possibly lightning) has been uncommon or at least greatly reduced.

If this isn't a stretch already, consider if it is possible that instead of crustal movement, these large events are due to electical engergy that hasn't been released through lightning. No, I haven't been drinking. The idea that temblors might be caused by something other than what is commonly believed to be accurate is not my own. I had just assumed that the USGS is correct in that the crustal movement gets hung up in certain locations and builds up until it lets go. Is it possible that this whole theory is incorrect?
