Sometimes little earthquakes happen in our lives.

I spent the day at the emergency room where my son, having been rear-ended in an accident, had been taken by ambulance. Nothing broken, but he is in terrible pain and has a concussion. My car, which he was driving, was totalled. This was a '92 Acura Legend with only 97,000 miles on it. I kept it in primo condition, and was saving it for our girls to drive after they get their licenses.

Son is home. The Spouse joined me at the hospital. I'm glad I had an extra set of wheels. The woman who hit my son as he was stopped for a red light, said she tried to brake but her foot hit the wrong pedal. So she essentially gunned it into my son. No skid marks on the asphalt.

This asshole cop was directing traffic onto the freeway onramp where my son's car got pushed he said about 50 yds. When I wouldn't go around, I could tell he was getting very angry. I motioned for him to come over to my car, and I could tell he was just really pissed. He shouts at me, "WHAT?" I said, "My son is in that ambulance and I need to know where they are taking him." He softened, but just a little. He told me the hospital and I was there before the ambulance actually arrived. Then it was a chest Xray and a CT scan, and a really terrible turkey sandwich, and nurses, and doctors, and beeping machines.

He is in terrible pain. They gave him morphine at the ER, and sent him home with a neck brace and an RX for Percocet. I am just glad he is alive.
