Hi All,

The Challus et al research group has issued a formal earthquake prediction for an earthquake occurring in the region defined as the West Coast with a minimum magnitude of 5.5 to a maximum of 7.0. This prediction was given to Roger Hunter and Don Eck on the evening of 2/20/06 and will expire on 3/20/06 at midnight. The term West Coast encompasses the areas from South of La Paz, Baja, Mexico to the Canadian Border. The prediction itself is precise as to the specific location involved. IE: This prediction does not include Alaska nor any locations 100 miles south of La Paz.

Inasmuch as this is a research project, we cannot deliver a formal public prediction, nor would we in this particular case. I have personally explored every avenue to possibly warn the citizens in the area affected and have determined there is no possible way to do this without creating more problems, some of which could have severe impact on the persons in that zone.

As it has been the standard of this board not to permit discussions regarding predictions which have not been posted here, I am simply making this note to open the door to future discussions if indeed that is something I wish to do at a later time.
