Looking For The Big One/Sharpen Those Calculators

Hi All,

I had a kooky idea this morning and it hasn't faded yet, so maybe those with desires to search catalogs and run numbers might find this an interesting few minutes of calculating.

Let's suppose one is looking for the location of the next future 7.0 or greater earthquake. We have the following parameters to work with in using the hypotheses that where there have been past large earthquakes in the past two years, these places are higher on the priority list than those of the past.

1. Determine exactly where all of the 7.0 earthquakes in the past two years have occurred anywhere on the globe.

2. Of this group, what are the statistical averages of any of these faults breaking at this time.

3. Did any of them break previously on a full Moon? Was there a magnetic storm in evidence? Was the break in the north/south direction or east/west? Put n/s in one column and e/w in another.

4. Which locations are at the top of the two columns after considering the above?

Don in Hollister and Dennis Gentry, I know the two of you can probably find the results in about 20 minutes or less. I'd love to hear from both of you, if you have the time.

Now, the question is; does this have any viability in looking for the future big one or not? What if it works? All I know is that within the first ten minutes of waking up, my best thoughts arrive. Puzzling sometimes.
