You Geologists. Why Don't You Just Go Away

Hi All. A week ago a speaker was giving a talk in a bookstore on Market Street and saw a long white envelope on the podium, marked for him. He opened it and found something he didn’t expect. I have to wonder. Is it denial, or stupidity? Working with people over the years I have learned that there are two things that can happen when you try to tell someone something. If you tell them something that they can have some control over more often as not they will accept what you saying. However if they can’t control something you are warning them about they will more often as not reject it. The earthquake will disrupt their lives and they have no control over it. They Don’t Want To Hear That. Take Care…Don in creepy town

"You geologists".

"If you can tell us we have three hours' warning, fine. But if you simply want to tell us that we live somewhere dangerous and that a quake might happen, well, we don't want to hear, thanks very much.

"Why don't you just go away and let us get on with our lives? We're happy here in California. Life is so darn good."
