Don, Canie, While a lot of people no doubt chose not to leave, a lot of others had no way to leave and no where to go. While it is Canie's page or whatever, I think it is very appropriate to discuss what are clear failures that are still ongoing. The issue is not only not getting people out beforehand...it is the clearly inadequate response afterwards....right up through this morning. One issue that is worth discussing is whether or not people should be forced to leave against their will (I don't have an answer to that, but you might question whether children should be protected against irresponsible parents or not...I don't have an answer to that either). I was going to post about whether the response to a M7.3 earthquake directly under Los Angeles (which IMHO could happen) would be adequate...how it would compare to New Orleans...would the residents of, say, south-central and elsewhere would respond a little better than they did after the verdict for the police in the Rodney King trial

So...my biggest problem with what is going on has nothing to do with 20-20 hindsight...it has to do with the response after the fact...after the levees broke in New orleans...after Katrina landed in Gulfport. Have you guys been watching the news?
Chris.
