Before You Note A Mogi |
The other day Cathryn mentioned she thought there might be an earthquake near Mt. Diablo because she thought she saw a Mogi Doughnut configuration on the earthquake map. This reminded me of the article which is link below that I read perhaps three years ago. Dr. Niren Biswas of the Geophysical Institute of Alaska has been studying Mogi's in a 3-D simulation for a number of years and the research I believe continues today. This article explains further than Mogi's are not necessarily seen at the surface on earthquake maps because they may be tipped sideways which makes them difficult to recognize. In addition to this article, The Alaska Science Forum has many interesting articles about earthquake events which makes great reading for laypeople. Enjoy....Petra Follow Ups: ● Re: Before You Note A Mogi - Cathryn 11:52:31 - 10/31/2004 (23511) (1) ● Re: Before You Note A Mogi - chris in suburbia 14:29:37 - 10/31/2004 (23512) (2) ● don'r think so - John Vidale 21:53:41 - 10/31/2004 (23516) (1) ● more gramatically - John Vidale 13:49:34 - 11/1/2004 (23522) (1) ● Question - Cathryn 17:23:36 - 11/1/2004 (23525) (2) ● mogi donuts - John Vidale 19:50:24 - 11/1/2004 (23530) (1) ● Thanks (NT) - Cathryn 14:45:23 - 11/2/2004 (23539) (0) ● Re: Question - Petra 19:18:39 - 11/1/2004 (23527) (0) ● Re: Before You Note A Mogi - Cathryn 16:25:37 - 10/31/2004 (23514) (0) |
