Not to mention any triggering of additional faults... as in Landers-Big Bear... While I do not agree that thousands could be killed, there is the possibility of a lot of damage. I guess it depends on when the quake occurs, as much as where. Our building codes are pretty good, as has been demonstrated in the past. Its always a good idea to be prepared and do whatever you can to prepare for a large quake.
