New Year Earthquake Contest

Happy New Year Everyone!

To open this New Year and first day, I thought I'd develop a contest for you.

Here are the rules:

The person who can name the location closest to the first 7.0 or greater magnitude earthquake in the world will be the winner. Clearly state the geographical name of the location. Not an entire country, but a city, or latitude and longitude with the closest city and country of origin name. Remember, if two of your post something similar, one of you is going to lose, so be clear.

The contest remains open until the earthquake arrives.

The prize will be your favorite music CD that can be purchased in an American store.

If there is a tie, the two winners will have to name the next 7.0 or greater magnitude earthquake in the world.

I will be the judge of the contest. All decisions are final.

If you don't play, you can't win. Hurry up before the quake arrives.

Petra Challus

** This contest is open on Sci-Geo as well as here. If you post in both locations each board will be judged separately and a prize is afforded for each board.
