6.6M Earthquake in the Komandorski Area

All

Here is a hot new item: There was a 10 km deep quake of 6.6M at the bend of the Pacific fault at the western end of the Aleutians. I refer to these as "quakes in the elbow of the fault", and the geology usually determines pretty closely which way the seismic energy goes. In this case it is heading straight south to the quake prone South Pacific. Watch for a big bump there in the next few days.

The solar relationships are a low proton flux and a rebounding electron flux. Maybe the rapid change in electron flux is itself the proper relationship to watch. There was a very minimal but double M-Class solar flare very recently too. Usually I expect troublesome solar flares to be in the stronger X-Class.

Looks like a little excitement for the weekend. The solar wind today generated a mild geomagnetic storm that peaked already at Kp 6, not nearly as high as the 9's of Nov. 20.

Stay safe! (I'm putting up Christmas decorations.)
Donald
