Earthquake forecasting projects

Project # 1 – Earthquake forecasting program
Project # 2 – Earthquake forecasting computer programs
Project # 3 – Proposed group forecasting program development efforts

Project # 1 - This is my personal earthquake forecasting program which relies largely on the evaluation of electromagnetic energy field fluctuation type signals including some “ear tones” which I am detecting. This program has been running satisfactorily for a few months now and very little work is being one on it at this time. However, as data are analyzed I am constantly making discoveries regarding how earthquakes are being triggered and how some precursor signals are being generated. So much is being learned that it is not even possible for me to keep my Web site research reports current.

Project # 2 - This involves an effort to get some organization or government agency to develop advanced earthquake forecasting computer programs which I believe have the potential to revolutionize both the science of earthquake forecasting and our understanding of how earthquakes are being triggered. Two major and a number of minor efforts are in progress regarding this project. It is the focus of most of my present efforts.

Project # 3 - This involves getting EarthWaves bulletin board visitors and other interested parties involved in Web site based earthquake forecasting program development efforts. One such effort would be to develop an automated PERL - CGI program for storing Web site data entry screen generated precursor data in a file at a Web site. I understand that Canie’s “Ear tone” data storage program involves having a data entry screen send an e-mail letter to her with the submitted data. She then manually transfers those data to a file which she uploads to the EarthWaves Web site. Things like that can probably be done with automated CGI programs.

A Web site where this project can be worked on has been located. And I am spending a small amount of time each day getting things organized. But this particular effort is waiting mainly for input from other people. For example, the programming work will probably be done primarily with the PERL programming language. Relatively few people interested in earthquake forecasting (including me to a large extent) appear to be familiar with that language. And someone has to get routines organized so that people know where to find information regarding how to develop those types of programs.

These are personal opinions.
