The problem is, more than 40% of the electricity we use in the United States is generated by coal. Older coal plants are being shut down. New ones aren't being allowed to be built. What's going to replace them? Natural gas is just another carbon emitting fossil fuel. Dams, wind, etc... are limited by their nature. Solar is still way too expensive. Nobody wants nuclear.
