Old news to us here in the area. It was almost literally "breaking news" when it was announced June 7th. The reason is simple - not cost effective to repair. There's no guarantee that the money to repair will be recuperated before the next renewal date in 2022, and there's no guarantee it will be renewed. It's purely a business decision to cut losses. And, nothing is replacing it. Instead, electricity will be imported on the grid, and the cost is expected to be passed on to consumers. Methinks people need a crash course in cost-benefit analysis. They need to learn that the risks vs the need for electricity aren't what they think it is. But then again, there's always rubbing two sticks together, right?
