I've posted on this over the last 10 years now and then. After being rejected 3 1/2 years ago, we rewrote the last half of our manuscript (I went through 4 major drafts in the last year and a half), rewrote a lot of the rest, did a lot of new and revised interpretation, improved some figures, made some new ones: it is finally accepted by the AGU publication Gcubed. I will publish it Open Access, so in a couple of months you can get it.

It was really difficult to make this one work. I have trouble keeping track of long manuscripts (I do better with short ones), we had trouble convincing reviewers that our model was correct, etc.

We interpret two levels of large Miocene (mosty 20-10 million years activity) low-angle normal faults to be partly reactivated as (oblique) thrust faults, rooted beneath Los Angeles. Slip rates are low...in the range 1 to 2 mm/yr, but rare earthquakes would be real bad. There have been earlier publications by other groups that have such faults, but we provide a clear image of the offshore parts where they are not much reactivated. We document the timing, and have a really detailed representation of the associated folding.

About time I received something other than a rejection!
