I know how difficult it can be.

One of my papers was held up over a year by the author of the paper I was rebutting, not because I was wrong but because he didn't want it published.

I had to protest to the Journal to get them to pry it loose.

Yours was even more difficult. Reviewers can be really picky, especially when they don't have to do the work!
