Hi Lowell. After you and I had talked about this I began thinking about the ripple affect we talked about after seeing the same identical change in tensor strain with the data from the Bay Area down to the Southern Calif. area. I have been watching for it to occur again, but to the best of my knowledge I have never seen it again.

It has been found that just before most large quakes there is a change in the magnetic field surrounding the epicenter of the quake. However this has not been detected much beyond a 20-mile radius of the epicenter. It may be this magnetic change that is triggering other faults although for the life of me I don’t see how.

I know from past experience using the strain data for San Juan Bautista I will see the gradual increase dilational strain and then a complete and sudden total drop in dilational strain hours before the quake. It may be this sudden relaxing of the strain that triggers quakes at other locations.

I think I will leave this to the geophysicists to solve. Thinking like this gives me a headache. Take Care…Don in creepy town
