It's too bad you didn't do this yourself 10 years ago. You might have saved yourself a lot of time and effort.

I just finished doing as you suggested but I only used the 7+ quakes. There were 19 of them in 2009 which adds up to 76 dots counting the 90 degree multiples. That's plenty of dots to look at. There were 236 mag 6+ quakes that year and if I had plotted all of them plus the multiples you wouldn't be able to see anything.

I must say that in looking at this plot I see no good example of what you propose; a peak that suddenly appears, culminating in a quake.

I see quakes without peaks. I see quakes in the middle of a peak sequence. I see peak sequences without quakes.

In summary, I see two random series of events which may happen to coincide on occasion. Not something one could rely on to evacuate a city.
