Wow. That is really creeping me out. Earthquake lights. After Sylmar, my nerves were shot. I had to drop out of college for that quarter and a friend and I headed north, to Walnut Creek where he was originally from. I think for a long time afterward I had PTSD. The Spouse and I left for NYC on the morning of Loma Prieta, which was only about six miles from our house. We did come back to all those aftershocks for years, and I think they recalibrated my trauma set point. There was a time when even a 3.0, if felt, would leave me with my heart in my throat. Now, I can ride out a 6 with no problem. I even think some of the 4s and 5s are fun, now. Like anything, it's all relative. Still would not care to experience anything larger than the 6.6 I lived through in 1971. The odds, however, are not in my favor.
