lights after the quake are possible |
There's a lot of energy in the elastic waves that travel out from an earthquake. The vibrations might somehow produce a glow. In this case the glow could precede the shaking because light travels much faster than the vibration in the ground. Precursory lights would be much more difficult to explain, and to my knowledge, have never been documented.
