Re: Good lessons on Building... |
Not a single western designed and built building collapsed near epicenter of 7.6m event. Almost all other structures failed. Now there is a call for investigation into building standards. India will have another quake somewhere, sometime that will test it's buildings again, perhaps at Cairo and maybe within the year, and if MORE of the defective buildings have been replaced or torn down there may be 20,000 lives SAVED. If they will LEARN from the mistakes and not allow corrupt inspections by untrained personnel. Hopefully some good will come from this terrible tragedy. I don't think any sensient human being could not have felt deep sorrow for the people of Gujarat on the days after the 26 of January. (Also the anniversary {301yrs} since Cascadia last broke @9 magnitude).Take care in fault zones...mb.
