Re: Barstow Miss |
Hi Cathryn, How? heh heh... I am making educated guesses about where the next quake might hit. I am working in a tight knit area. This is hard. But I do come close. My best tool is seeing the area, and talking to old timers. I have been all over So Cal, and I know the land. It is very difficult to predict a 3.5 here and get a hit. I have studied the faults, and I am trying to figure out how they react together during periods of raised seismicity. I do see a relationship between seismicity on the San Jac and the Elsinore faults. This reactivity is predictable. But it does not help me get the big one. When I see many micros east of the Elsinore fault, it means there will be more quakes in the Western Salton Trough. When the micros jump west of Elsinore, look for off shore quakes from San Diego to Long Beach. I wish I could figure out spooky town though. You know, northwest LA. I can't get a handle on that reverse area. It will pop out of nowhere. Just drive up through Sylmar. Well.. you know.
